would you rank higher than on a website on a fresh server

I was just wandering, could being on a trusted IP help your ranking? Like if you are on the same server as a trusted website (pr6+ or so) would you rank higher than on a website on a fresh server with no other websites?

I'm not sure if that is the case, but I think the opposite is true. If you are on a server with a lot of sites that are considered "Bad Neighborhoods" you can be lumped in with them. -- This message may have been cut off and the rest will only be shown to members. To become a member, click here --

I think that IP can't effect on rankings only on local searches.

This is a quote from Googles latest patent. Whether this is in place at this time, or if it ever will be is anyones guess, however, it is something they are considering

Check the policies of the host. Most will state what type of sites the will not host.
Call them and find out.
Do some research on how long the host has been operatingCheck several of the blacklisting email sites and see if the host is frequently listed.
Stick with the reputable hosts. It's not always best to go with the cheepest.

Im not sure too.. And also I totally agree with Adacprogramming.

shared IP has been in question since long. i havent seen any direct evidence.
