Switch and Data, an Internet exchange and managed infrastructure provider, yesterday announced that it has again increased its footprint in New York City.
The company announced the addition of 25,000 sq. ft. to its facility at 111 8th Avenue, one of the premier carrier hotels on the U.S. East Coast. The expansion of its operations at 111 8th Avenue gives Switch and Data a total of 85,000 sq. ft. in Manhattan. In addition, the company has upgraded its optical network interconnectivity capacity in and between 111 8th Avenue and 60 Hudson, another important carrier hotel in New York, with the Cisco ONS 15600 Multiservice Switching Provisioning Platform (MSPP).
"We are seeing surging demand from a diverse marketplace made up of telecom carriers, VoIP providers, content providers, ISPs, MSOs, MSPs, ASPs and enterprises to increase connectivity to the Internet's core and network hubs," said Ali Marashi, Vice President of Engineering and CIO at Switch
