Switch and Data, an Internet exchange and managed infrastructure provider, today announced that Japan Telecom Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of SOFTBANK CORP., has entered into an agreement to extend their current colocation and peering services with Switch and Data. The company will also be expanding their peering capacity within Switch and Data's Palo Alto site.
Switch and Data's PAIX services enable service providers and content providers to take advantage of more interconnection choices, quicker time to market, access to more networks, vast peering and transit opportunities, and a richly diverse customer base - all available in secure and reliable facilities available in 11 markets, claims the company. The move to 10 Gigabit Ethernet establishes the foundation for the future of peering services in terms of supporting customer density growth and enabling the next generation of Gigabit Ethernet technology - 10GigE.
