The Planet Adds Windows Server 2008

Windows Server 2008 web edition free on company's single-processor servers.

The Planet, a privately held dedicated hosting company, today announced the addition of Windows Server 2008 to its full line of dedicated server operating systems. The company states that it is now offering four editions of the operating system, available immediately on all servers in their broad fleet. It further declares that its offering includes Windows Server 2008 Web Edition, which is free on single-processor servers.

The company explained that the Windows Server 2008 features enhanced capabilities and powerful tools that build on the strengths of its predecessors. The new operating system delivers enhanced Web tools, virtualization technologies and security features that, backed by their network and six data centers, provide a secure and scalable hosted IT environment.
