Setting servers?

Hello people,
We are setting some servers using 2 hds and RAID 1. If a hd fails, the server will continue to operate. And replacing bad drive, it will rebuild the drive to match the good one? Also, it is better to use Software RAID for RAID 1 rather than Hardware due to stability. Share your thoughts please!

Actually, Software RAID uses more system resources, whereas hardware raid relies on a RAID card. RAID1 don't need an expensive 3Ware card, a software RAID would probably be fine. Getting to RAID5 and RAID10, you will be needing hardware RAID.
