periodic background task...

Hi there,
I am looking for a host allowing a periodic background task, possibly a cron job, to pull RSS feeds from several sites, send emails automatically.
Any good recommendations, please!

Not much of the hosts allow either background tasks or loads of e-mails sent, so may be the best solution is a VPS.
