While it might help a little, a large factor of the total scores of those benchmark tests is based on disk performance and may not reflect your "real world" application.
You could ask your hosting company if they have done various apache bench testing or mysql tests on the comparing platforms and how they differ.
In setting up a bunch of servers recently, one of the first things I did was write down all the unixbench-wht scores for the servers running in raid 5 vs raid 6, 32 bit vs 64 bit, dual single core vs single dual core... and all combinations of that.
