Default questions about hosts

Hello

I've shopped around and have seen hundreds and hundreds of web hosts out there, but I don't get it; why is there such a huge difference in prices? I've seen hosts offerring plans for $35 a month with a setup fee and saw double the features on another for only $3 a month and that $3/month host had great customer service and uptime! Is there any explanation for why some of these hosts insist on stripping down their features and charging outrageous prices? I mean the amount of technology out there has eliminated so much cost for both ends but why do these hosts hold back on offerring more bandwidth and disk space, or upgrade their software to provide broader language support? Heck, even 300 gigs of bandwidth doesn't even cost that much but you're telling me that for something ten times less you'll charge me ten times more than another host?

Talking

Well firstly you have to remember that Web Hosting is not a comodity. Your not buying space and bandwidth your buying a service. Like any service you can choose a cheap solution, an expensive solution or something in between. Each company will provide a different business model and different levels of service. The choice is yours, you have to select the best from the rest as per your personal needs and requirements.

Thumbs up

Hi Friend , Its down to some hosts overselling. However some also can just find cheap deals but there is no real way of knowing. When looking on websites sometimes you can get the idea if they do or not, say for example if you look on a resellers account and they have 'overselling allowed' this could be a way of knowing.

All the best -- This message may have been cut off and the rest will only be shown to members. To become a member, click here --

Well I mean like 1and1.com has $2.99 hosting for 5 gb of space and 250 gb of bandwidth and their customer support is the best I've ran into yet. My site has never been down that I'm aware of since I've hosted with them, but I see these hosts for $50 a month for the same stuff but I get less uptime and worse customer support.

Hi. I think it has more to do with reliability than anything else. the bottom line is that you get what you pay for. while a cheaper company may be great initially, what i've found is that reliability is king. it's just not worth the hassle to try newer companies that haven't been around that long. you have to pay for experience and relying upon a web host for your business, makes that critical.

We use gate.com and valueweb, they both are good. -- This message may have been cut off and the rest will only be shown to members. To become a member, click here --
