Default trouble loading a zone file

hello all
I have killed the service, named, and tried running it again, despite this, the zone file is not loaded. I have also noticed that if I kill named, and access the domain, it still works, is this normal?
Thanks

Hello
This is dependant on your time to live on your records. Nearly all ISP's resolver nameservers do 'cache' nameserver records, so that they do not have to communicate with the domain's nameservers everytime they need to resolve a record. This way is efficient, and once the TTL time has passed, and another person requests the record from that nameserver, it grabs it from the parent nameserver of the domain, and stores it for the amount of time that the TTL is.

Hope it helps -- This message may have been cut off and the rest will only be shown to members. To become a member, click here --

Hi
This is not unusual, your computer itself have dns caches, your router, your ISP etc. While it will work in the near term, it will not if it stays down. At the same time, visitors trying to visit you after a long time or for the first time, and without any dns caches, will not be able to resolve. There may be some problems in your message log, check error messages.
