GN data center, Inc., an Internet services provider, yesterday announced the development of the first entirely liquid-cooled Internet data center. The data center is expected to become operational in late 2006 to early 2007.
According to the company, because data center heat loads are increasing and real estate and electricity are becoming more expensive, the economics of the liquid-cooled data center will be more relevant. By quadrupling equipment density, substantial savings are possible over data centers using conventional air-conditioning. A perfect match for high-density blade server technology, the liquid-cooled data center allows more hardware in a smaller space.
The goal of GN data center is to provide the highest equipment density to achieve operating economies unavailable in conventional data centers. When completed, GN data center will be an ITIL-compliant facility and be operated continuously by on-site trained technicians. It is located midwa
