Panda Software, a provider of internet security solutions, today announced that Platinum 2006 Internet Security and Titanium 2006 Antivirus + Antispyware now include an additional level of protection to ensure complete Internet security.
The company checks executable files as well as any file that could be downloaded when a user visits a website. This feature allows the inclusion of malicious code in non-executable files, such as images, QuickTime or Flash files. This has opened a new channel through which malware writers can distribute their creations without depending on .exe or .bat type files to spread malicious code, says the company.
Software vulnerabilities in both browsers and operating systems cause many of these problems. Some of these vulnerabilities affect the interpretation of downloaded files, so an error can cause a non-executable malicious code to be installed on a computer.
