Akamai Technologies, Inc., a provider of accelerating content and business processes online, yesterday announced key leadership appointments to its public sector organization based in Reston, Virginia.
Spurred by continued growth in its federal, state, and local government agency customer base, Akamai also announced that it has more than doubled the size of its public sector operations center, moving to a new location in Reston. The company's new public sector offices will feature a Network Operations Command Center (NOCC) to monitor Internet traffic patterns, congestion points, and potential malicious activity in support of its government customers.
Betsy Appleby, who joined Akamai at the beginning of 2005, has been promoted to the role of Vice President, Akamai Public Sector. In her new role, Ms. Appleby will run Akamai's public sector sales organization.
