want to put game server on the net

i am a newbie
not sure this is the relevent topic on this forum but ..........here's my question
I am running a server from my computer so people can play the game i create. I want to put the server on the net but how? I want to run the server 24/7, and I am only on my copmuter about 20/7. Is there anyway to run my server without my PC being turned on.

it is very tough to do this, to put a server on the internet with comp. shut toughie....
question arises can your pc be running while you aren't on it?

Tell me if your game runs on linux server? You're going to be looking at a Linux server so you can admin it remotely. This is how most of the UT2K4 and other dedicated servers are up and running 24/7. Obviously there are a few exceptions like the halo dedicated server which runs on windows and it's difficult to get those remotely hosted, as not to many professional server leasing companies want to rent Windows boxes out, so they cost more.
