Ever Hired a web designer?

I was once looking for a template for my teen site. Finally I resided with wordpress blog though. I met a lot of people who were interested in designing a good template for my site but none of them spoke below $100 -$200. I am not very rich and can't afford so high prices for just my website. No one gets anything great for cheap in this world. $100-$200 is pretty less for designing, if you actually look. There are lots of great designers who get around $500 or more for designing websites and that is quite decent price. This is usually because people are looking for a very customized design to fit absolutely their topic. Why does it need to be so expensive especially if you are looking for a basic skin and not a major design?
