retrieving auto-inc ID value?

Hi all of you,
I'm using MySQLdb in python to insert a row into a table with an auto-inc ID field. I wanna use the auto-inc feature, but can't figure out how to retrieve the value of 'ID' which has been assigned after the row has been inserted. Please share your thoughts?
