timestamp values

Hello there,
I need your help as I am adding a timestamp column to an existing table with existing records, and all of the timestamp values are 0000-00-00 00:00:00. I'm using this field for compatibility reasons with Access which makes the field unusable. How to get these values to default to the current system time?
