PHP5 issues??

Hi all of you,
I installed MySQL 5.0.26 on Mac OS 10.4.8 to build PHP5 against it. Also, there's a known bug, in which PHP5 won't work or build with MySQL 5 because of:

/usr/local/mysql/lib/libmysqlclient.a(libtaocrypt_la-misc.o) definition of _CRYPTO_add_lock in section (__TEXT,__text)
/usr/bin/ld: multiple definitions of symbol _CRYPTO_lock

Are people installing the 5.1 beta to work around this, or what?
