Slow performance

I just got a MySQL server that I have to manage, but their DB system has about 2050 tables and the two used include 750.000 records one of them and 170.000 recods the other one. The server is looking very slow, so how to make this server to perform faster?

Try to look at the no. of connections to DB, also, increase RAM - increase key_buffer_size, find the slow queries and check if indexes are being used / if SQL is well written, and the version of the mysql, etc. -- This message may have been cut off and the rest will only be shown to members.
