root password issue.

Hello there,
I installed MySQL 5.0. I have used cconfiguration wizard to create standard configuration and set root password. MySQL works fine until i restart my computer as the root password is not working anymore. I am unable to connect to MySQL as root or change configuration. Any ideas?
