overriding the limit.....??

Hello all there,
Please suggest if there is any easy solution to overriding the limit of 16 columns per index? I think you can change the MAX_REF_PARTS definition in unireg.h to modify this value for MySQL. Is there something else in MySQL that will assume this limit without looking at this value?
