storing data base file?

I am a linux user using MySQL v 5.0, how to change where the program actually stores the data base file?

MySQL stores its data is not so important as other things you'd want handy, such as SQL scripts to create and populate your database and tables, set up test data, etc. Like a directory with PHP code, SQL scripts, javascript files, cascading style sheets, etc. all relating to a particular project. -- This message may have been cut off and the rest will only be shown to members.
