character sets?

Hey all,
I need your help as I am making a Mambo Componenet to store information in the DB in a number of different languages. but when I try to do a DB dump, and import that information in another DB I keep getting question marks "????" everywhere. any idea? -- This message may have been cut off and the rest will only be shown to members.
