'ODBC'@'localhost' error

Hi All,
I've installed MySQL 5.0 on a Windows2000 machine.
When I try to run mysqlshow, I get the error Access denied for user 'ODBC'@'localhost'. The refman suggest to create a file \windows\hosts containing 120.0.0.1 <tab>localhost.
