Isnt it funny how so many SEO companies promise & say they can get you in the top 10 but they themselves come in on the 3rd, 4th or 5th page of every major SEO keyword? Thats like saying, a stock broker who says he has great returns on his clients portfolios but his own portfolio is losing money.

Yes, you are almost right. But it's not so bad if SEO company in top20, 30, 40, 50 for MAJOR seo keywords. If they are in top 1000 that is real signs of rip-off! Cause that guys you mention at least trying to get to the top. If you somehow mention site in your signature, so watches site, then I can tell you if it REALLY competitive niche, REALLY REALLY. You already know this I bet. In the moment it can be compared to even casino, adult, dating, webhosting.

They will get you to top10 - but on search phrases like "justanotherwordihavejustinvented". They themselves rank for those words, too. That no one searches those words is different problem.

I agree. I actually go on scriptlance.com sometimes and warn the poor people on there looking for SEO that anyone claiming to get them top 10 for any keyword are fakes. I also remind them "will submit your site to 500 seach engines" is all BS. They only need to worry about 5 SE's at the most. I've worked with many SEO companies. They don't care about there own rankings, per se. They care about there client's rankings. Would you care if they were #1 for SEO, but couldn't rank any of their client's sites? ...OR... having tons of rankings for client's sites and their own site on page 50 for SEO?
I have an SEO company, mostly comprised of real estate clients and I don't spend anytime optimizing my business site for the SE's. I put all my resources into my client's site. also SEO style terms are probably the most competitive in the world as, I'll take a guess and say 4/10 of all SEO companies know what there doing so that's a massive category as well, and of course you'll have other companies thinking smart and going for lesser terms and also exactly what Voasi said too -- This message may have been cut off and the rest will only be shown to members.
