Does adding a forum to your webpage increase your backlinks?
Hello,
I have noticed some horrible sites that have a "decent" forum that have 2-3k+ backlinks. Does adding a forum to your webpage increase your backlinks?
Thanks alot guys -- This message may have been cut off and the rest will only be shown to members. To become a member, click here --

You can't make an analogy like that simply because of the fact that they have a crappy forum.
If they have active members, the members could have bought in backlinks.
You never know if they ran an SEO Campaign and got a ton of backlinks either. -- This message may have been cut off and the rest will only be shown to members. To become a member, click here --

Adding a forum may get you backlinks, if it's a quality forum like this one, people will link to it naturally. Kinda like a huge link bait
What is more important, is that you can build a cool community around your site using a forum. This could improve traffic and sales.
Good luck mate -- This message may have been cut off and the rest will only be shown to members. To become a member, click here --

the backlinks issue may be due to the forum providing some information for the people intrested in that particular niche.
i dont think there is any other benefit of adding a forum. Also, a forum isnt an easy thing to run and keep it rolling -- This message may have been cut off and the rest will only be shown to members. To become a member, click here --

How can you assume to get backlinks to your site if you have forums?
You can expect to have a lot of links indexed because a forum gets you tons of pages on your site. By no means, it is necessary that you get extra backlinks by having a forum?
Untill and unless you submit to tons of directories or buy lots of sitewide links, you are not getting so many backlinks like you said 2k - 3k -- This message may have been cut off and the rest will only be shown to members. To become a member, click here --

I can Amen to that, I help modorate a forum and it is really tough sometimes. And getting people to abide by rules and stuff is a nightmare. For those of you who have a forum for your site, do you find that having the forum adds to sales if you have a product on your site? If so, has it been worth all the effort of keeping your forum going? -- This message may have been cut off and the rest will only be shown to members. To become a member, click here --
