non-themed incoming links not helping site!!

Is there any evidence that non-themed incoming links with high pagerank doesn't help a site and can possibly hurt it?

any ideas, suggestions

Personally, i think that non-themed incoming links with high pagerank certainly do help a website a lot without doing any harm. I have several websites that their PR is based mainly on this kind of incoming links and they all enjoy high positions in search engines.

as far as i know, PR is purely a numerical formula passed on from the PR of other sites without taking relevence into account. So, it should help your own PR value but not your position in the SERPs directly. Indirectly, PR is a factor in the SERPs so, in that sense, it would have some, probably very small effect on your position in the SERPs.
