links querry

hello
I am just starting to try to learn about the intricaies of SEO but i am a bit confused.
I have a page that has 500 links to it but all coming from other pages within my site the search engines would value you this and give it a better placement than if that same page had 200 links coming to it from my site.

suppose

if i had a a page with 500 links coming to it from my site as against
a page with 500 links coming to it from out side sites.

Would they be viewed the same-
Anotherward does a link coming from my site (from a page with lets say rank 2) equal a link from an outside site (rank 2)

Links from outside are far more valuable than internal links. Pages on your site that you link to from other pages, are seen from highest value to lowest value depending on how many pages link to it.
If you had 50 links to your home page, but you had an internal page for "electric widgets" and had like 150 links pointing directly to that page, then you would find that the weight of the internal page could be higher than the rest of your pages. -- This message may have been cut off and the rest will only be shown to members.
