linked for one week will help or..!!

A major news media is offering me and my frends a text link on their site for one week for a great price. The site has over 10 million hits a day.
I understand this will bring in lots of traffic to our site, but will it help for Google in any way, being that we will be listed for such a short time?

If it is a major news media site, then Google probably visits it frequently. They will see ur link there and take note of it accordingly.
They should also see it disappear a week later, and note it accordingly.

Yup, Yahoo would probably see it appear and then disappear in a short time. Te real benefit of the link would be the possible traffic generated. If for only SE purposes, probably not worth it.
