variation and linking

hi everybody, give ur opinions, which choice is better

10 Incoming links with the anchor "Soccer Tickets"
All 10 links have the same anchor text and point to the soccer tickets page.
OR
10 incoming links with the anchor "Soccer tickets"
All 10 links vary with the anchor text. Ie. some say "soccer tickets" some say "buy soccer tickets" some say "cheap soccer tickets" etc. etc.

Tell me is there a higher chance of ranking higher if you use variations in the anchor text when linking them to the soccer page?

I would prefer variations every time. I take a more conservative approach than many. hey you don't have to get nervous every time there is an update.

I would think variations are the best provided you can get enough links for each variation. If you are limited in time to dedicate to get links point to a single keyprase, give it emphasis and make some variations to avoid abuse.

I am not sure about the concept of anchor text variation. Just to illustrate you i m allways using this anchor text "My product" and my index.html page to link with other sites.
A variation means that I should use another anchor "Other Product" and another page to link with other sites.
