off topic links on clients sites

I own and run a webdesign company and I have placed a link on all my clients sites at the bottom of the html page linking back to my companies web address. The link is small and contains the words "web design by xyz company" with the keywords "web design" hyperlinked. So, how good or bad are these links for my site as they are all off topic but they are a credit to my company. -- This message may have been cut off and the rest will only be shown to members. It will not put any negative effect on your sites.
If it's a repitition thing you're worried about, how many web pages have the anchor text "Home Page" linking to them? Further, how many links does Adobe's Acrobat product page have pointing to it with the anchor text "Acrobat Reader" or the like?

Are you just doing the web design work or SEO work as well?
Acccording to Google's Webmaster guidelines, you should never have to link to an SEO.
If you are doing SEO work, and your clients ever run across this, they may doubt this thing.
If you are just doing web dev, the links will help your link pop. Small link text with "web design by xyz company" have been prevalent since times immemorial. If your clients have no objection then i don't thing anything wrong in it. An off topic link is not as useful but nevertheless something is better than noyhing.

There is a possibility that these links might bring spiders to your site but it may also bring with it some legitimate traffic coz a link is a link, in the worst case scenario it will still bring a spider to visit your site. it won't hurt you . -- This message may have been cut off and the rest will only be shown to members.
