updating backlinks indexed by google

Hi, how are you

New back-links towards my website that are indexed by Google appear every day, but the number of links is not updated by Google at all, it remains constant and this has been going on for about 1 year now.
At link-back.net which practically takes the Google’s query result “link:mysite” and compares it with the previous result, I can see every new links, each day there are 1-2 new links but still the
number of indexed links is unchanged, its been going on for over a year.

Why is this happenning

The 'caution' sign is not appropriate when you want people falling down.
Google have turned the Link: search operator in to a superb misinformation tool that doesn't hurt anyone but those who might seek to exploit it. The cleverest part wasn't removing most of the links that still matter from the results - it was adding in links that absolutely are not helping. That bit was rather ingeneous.

And who does it hurt?

Most ordinary people don't even know that such a search operator exists, let alone have any reason to use it. Professionals know a host of other ways to find what they seek, and yet still return to Google as their primary search engine based on quality of results and ease of getting them.
