I have PR4 site, that comes up with the index page in most cases when quiries are made that should bring up other relevant pages. Is there anything I can do in my code to change this?

The key will be to optimize the other pages you mentioned. All the usual stuff: make them subject specific, create a good meta title and meta description, and if it sounds tough, get some quality incoming links pointed at the page.

The important thing to remember with SEO is that it is PAGE specific, not site specific. Your PR is a result of backlinks to the particular page it shows on but isn't that relevant when it comes to ranking. PR is an indicator of popularity, not good optimisation.
