Hidden text, not dead

Hi all, I was doing some competitive analysis the other day and found a recent johnny come lately, real recent. The domain was registered about 3 months ago and I figure another another 3-4 weeks to up get a decent amount of content/products. The website is already ranking suprisingly well in a medium/low competitive industry with Google for several products.

Their on page SEO is on par, maybe a little too much keyword stuffing for my tastes but the META's are good, They have a good layout and but standard content for their products. Alt's are configured, good layout, healthly but standard/canned content for products.

Their off page SEO is what suprised me. Few, if any highly relevant links,15-20 medium relevant links,40 unique non relevant links and two site-wides from non relevant sites totaling another 500 links. The site-wide's anchor text are white on white all with the same text at the bottom of the page.

Hi buddy
If they can penalize the site for use of hidden text, then that means that it works, anyhow until G detcts them. And there are enough ways to hide a text that software can't recognize, by using an external stylesheet and set display:none. Google doesn't crawl external stylesheets. With a bit more work you can usually achieve the same results with a legitimate site, without the danger of being caught.
