to host large files?

Plz tell whether setting up a dedicated server on you PC is a realistic option to host large files receiving a lot of traffic?

It is not realistic at all. It will depend on your upstream speed. Most broadband/DSL providers may have some great download speeds, but typically upload speeds are no more than 1Mbps. Usually every Internet providers have some kind of policy for hosting websites on a home server. So, check with them first to see if they allow it. I wouldn't recommend using your home PC as your website, regardless if you have good internet connection (download and upload). I recommend having a dedicated server that has good specifications, and unmetered connections (10Mbit or 100Mbit would be sufficient) would be a good choice. If it doesn't consume too much bandwidth, and your fixed bandwidth has good dedicated network speeds (ideally 100Mbps or above) then I would go for fixed bandwidth allocation per month. -- This message may have been cut off and the rest will only be shown to members.
