processor performance in high traffic?

Hello there,
I get more than 200000 Page impressions on the site per day. My current Processor is 2.8GHz Pentium 4 with 2GB RAM. They told me that the power in not enough for the kind of traffic i am getting. I was told to upgrade to the latest package and also upgrade to 100mbit which will be better. What do you think that my current server should have performed well on this kind of traffic?

It depends upon what the traffic is doing i.e. concurrent downloading stuff or concurrently accessing application with heavy usage of database?
