prevention steps!!!

Hello members,
Please suggest some tips to prevent customers from bringing the server down?
As one of the customer has a PHP script exploit and imported his own script to be executed on our server to send spam, also, one got an attack from a spam bot sending to his mail boxes hundreds of thousands dummy emails. A client had an exploit and some one imported his script to create a remote DoS to another server using all our CPUs. Any suggestion will be appreciated!

Try to use a firewall to prevent users from connecting to remote smtp servers and force all outbound email to go through localhost:25. Also, configure the email server to set limits on emails/hr, and should be self explanatory once the spam is in your servers mail queue.
