Default maintaining data after format?

Hello friends,
Recently, I've had to format my pc and only have a 'copied' version of my MySQL program folder. On re-installing the OS and MySQL, I tried to paste the old 'Data' folder into the new MySQL program folder, but now my web applications can't find the tables in the databases. Actual syntax is as follows:

'site.tbl_name' doesn't exist

So, how to fix this problem in order to maintain my data?
